I’ve been trawling the web and my contacts book for some original thought on “Black Friday”. The web seems to be full of half-stories and ill-informed opinions. The contacts are understandably circumspect or a bit shell-shocked.

The only thing I have in the way of a scoop is that Italy’s regulator AAMS has told me that if PokerStars (or any other licence holder) was convicted of fraud in a foreign jurisdiction it would suspend its licence.

A lesser publication would make a nice sensationalist news story out of that - and it was tempting. I got a nice quote and could write a juicy headline but we’re a long way from that happening. The wheels of justice move slowly. Particularly when the defendants can afford the very best lawyers that money can buy.
