New Jersey suffers first setback in sports betting fight

New Jersey’s plans to introduce sports betting in the new year suffered a setback Friday after a court ruled that sports leagues can challenge the move in court.

The state of New Jersey, which is represented by former solicitor general Ted Olson, had filed a motion to dismiss the challenge by the sports leagues (NCAA, NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA), arguing that they lacked standing in the case.
