FIFA hits Italian league players and official with worldwide bans

Football world governing body FIFA has imposed worldwide suspensions on a total of 26 players and one match official because of match-fixing in Italy’s top two leagues, Serie A and Serie B, with some of the accused also handed four-year bans from the sport.

The suspensions follow two investigations conducted by the Italian Football Association (FIGC), with the ‘Bari bis’ case concerning matches played in Serie B during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, and ‘Cremona quater’ [...]
