German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom has confirmed that it intends to participate in the regulated German sports betting market through a holding in Deutsche Sportwetten GmbH.
As first reported by Gaming Intelligence, Deutsche Telekom revealed plans to move into the German sports betting market a year ago with a request to the country's competition commission for approval to acquire a majority shareholding in Deutsche Sportwetten, subject to the operator obtaining a German licence.
