Sweden’s gambling regulator the Lotteriinspektionen has published its annual survey of consumers’ gambling habits, revealing that the number of Swedes playing online games has fallen in 2014, and that widespread misconceptions exist about the legal status of private iGaming operators.

In a survey of 1,488 players aged between 18 and 79 years old, 71 per cent said they had gambled at least once in the past twelve months, down from 76 per cent in 2013. However, the regulator added that it had not seen a significant decline in turnover – though it did not publish figures to support this – suggesting that fewer players were spending more on gambling.
