With a 68 per cent share of the global poker market, the Amaya-owned brand is far and away the most deserving winner of the poker operator trophy.

Its sheer size is impressive, with 73m registered players playing more than 142bn hands of poker, and in 2015 it even set the record for the world’s largest online poker tournament. But PokerStars refuses to rest on its laurels. It has continued to develop its product, launching PokerStars 7 to improve desktop functionality, as well as constantly updating its mobile and social offerings.

This level of care for customer experience has long been cited as a key reason behind the operator’s success by fans of the brand. Even more has been done to offer a recreational player experience, while the company continually looks to build its customer base further through high-profile marketing strategies. This year it has signed up footballing legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar as brand ambassadors.

In a vertical constantly derided as struggling, PokerStars continues to outperform all competitors.
