Genius Sports has agreed a new official data partnership with The Football Association of Wales (FAW).

The supplier has been granted non-exclusive worldwide rights by the governing body for Welsh football, tasked with driving commercial returns from FAW's data in the media and regulated betting sectors.

Genius Sports' network of accredited statisticians will collect real-time data from pitch-side locations at competitions including the JD Welsh Premier League, Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League and the JD Welsh Cup.

The governing body said that by harnessing Genius Sports’ technologies, the new partnership would enable the FAW to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of its data, maximise its commercial returns, and help grow Welsh football's audience globally.

"It is important that we as an association maximise the full value of the data from our major domestic competitions," said Jonathan Ford, chief executive of the FAW. "To that end we are pleased to have formed this partnership with Genius Sports, which we believe will enable us to achieve this, as well as expand our audience."

Steven Burton, managing director of Genius Sports, added: "When combined with the right technology, official data can drive long-term, quantifiable benefits for rights holders.
