Seattle-based social games studio FlowPlay has launched a real-time fantasy sports game which allows players to place bets on sporting events as they unfold.

Ready Set Bet is a free-to-play game that allows fans to bet on professional baseball and American football leagues.

FlowPlay said that the game differs from traditional daily fantasy sports (DFS) offerings as it allows fans to place bets while the game is in play.

Players can join at any point during a live game to place their bet. Winnings are paid out with virtual currency and points are determined throughout the game, with the player with the most points at the end of the game declared the winner.

Ready Set Bet also offers a lightening bets feature, which encourages players to bet on situations that arise during the game, such as fourth and short ruling, or a challenge on the field.

Available on FlowPlay’s social casino, Vegas World, Ready Set Bet was initially launched as an exclusive preview for the Richard Sherman Celebrity Softball Game in July, and will expand to include all professional sports in future.

“The current landscape of fantasy football in the U.S. allows for weekly, at most daily options to place sports bets,” said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. “Armchair quarterbacks everywhere now have a third option to make proposition bets in real-time as they watch games live.

“While the pay-off may not be real-money, Ready Set Bet does leave plenty of room for bragging rights and, for the first time, truly connects fantasy friends from around the world in one place online to also brag in real-time.”

Ready Set Bet is the latest release from FlowPlay, which also offers games such as All Star Daily Fantasy, 5 Card Draft and Vegas World Sportsbook.
