Isle of Man-based gaming solutions provider Microgaming has secured a licensing deal to develop a new online slot based on the classic horror movie Halloween.

The new title is currently in development under a licensing agreement with Compass International Pictures and is scheduled for release later this year.

It is based on the cult classic 1978 American independent slasher film directed by John Carpenter and starring Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis. Featuring Michael Myers, the film was the first instalment in the Halloween franchise, with ten films in total released to date.

The slot will feature iconic characters from the film and the renowned music soundtrack.

“Halloween is a true classic and set the standard for modern horror films,” said David Reynolds, games publisher at Microgaming. “It was immeasurably influential in the slasher genre of movies, so it is great to be working with such an iconic and respected brand.

“Embracing all the elements of what made the movie such a success, our games team are busy developing a slot for release later in the year.”

Ryan Freimann, senior vice president of Compass, added: “We are excited to team up with Creative Licensing and Microgaming to bring Michael Myers and Halloween home to all of our loyal fans in the best possible ways through top licensees who create products we feel honour the character, film, and franchise."
