This week sees the launch of a new Microgaming slot pitched by staff, and integrations for the likes of Habanero, Yggdrasil Gaming, FBM Gaming and NSoft.
Isle of Man-based gaming supplier Microgaming has launched a new online slot which has been developed through a staff-powered innovation initiative.
Based on the popular emoticon phenomenon, EmotiCoins is a five reel, 30 payline slot which was developed from an idea pitched by two members of staff, PR manager Anna McChesney and enterprise solutions team member Rob Mercer.
This was part of a staff-powered innovation initiative last year, known at the supplier as the Microgaming Idea Factory.
"As a marketer, to me the use of emoticons in social media and communication is fascinating; they have essentially become a universal language," said McChesney. "92 per cent of the world’s online population use emoticons, so developing a themed game would automatically target the demographic of our operators' players."
EmotiCoins features two brand new wild features in both the base game and free spins. Players can trigger Wild Blast on any spin to grant them five extra Wilds and award a guaranteed win, and landing three scatters in the base game will trigger 10 free spins with Wild Stickers.
"We are super excited to be taking live the first game concept driven from the Idea Factory by staff members who would ordinarily not be involved in game conception," said Lydia Barbara, head of innovation strategy at Microgaming. "And it's a great game to be our first – the game studio did a fantastic job."
Casino games developer Habanero has signed what it described as a landmark deal to integrate its complete portfolio of games with Asian-facing supplier BBIN Group.

Habanero's head of sales Daniel Long said the deal was a game-changer for the supplier and one of the company's most important to date.
"By partnering with BBIN, we have significantly expanded our presence around the world, which means even more players will be able to enjoy our games," he said. "Many of them will be a natural fit with BBIN's customers, but it is the diversity and variety of content that will appeal the most."
