The Australian government has reduced the ID verification period for new online wagering customers in order to protect young people and vulnerable gamblers.
The new national rule came into force this week and reduces the customer verification period from 90 days to a maximum of 14 days.
It is the first measure to be delivered under the government’s National Consumer Protection Framework for online wagering, which was unveiled late last year.
