NCAA joins calls for federal sports betting regulation in US

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has joined sports governing bodies in calling for a federal framework to regulate sports betting in the United States.

In reaction to last week's Supreme Court's decision to overturn the federal ban on sports betting, the NCAA said that a federal model is necessary to uphold integrity in sport.

"Our highest priorities in any conversation about sports wagering are maintaining the integrity of competition and student-athlete well-being," NCAA president Mark Emmert explained.
