Canadian lottery supplier Pollard Banknote has extended its long-term partnership with the Kansas Lottery by signing a new contract to provide instant games to the state lottery operator.

The six-year contract, which was awarded following a competitive procurement process, will see the supplier provide instant game tickets, game formats and marketing services to the lottery until at least June 2022, with the option of four additional one-year extensions.

Pollard Banknote, which recently secured similar contracts with the South Dakota and Minnesota lotteries, has a long-standing partnership with the Kansas Lottery dating back to 1997.

Kansas  became the first state to launch Pollard’s instant crossword product, now one of its most popular games, and has also been an early adoptor of other innovations from Pollard, including its PlayBook of instant lottery games, Spectrum Scratch FX scratch cards and its mobile app portfolio Space Between.

During its 2016 financial year, the lottery's instant sales reached $168.1m, growth which Terry Presta, executive director of the Kansas Lottery, attributes in part to the partnership with Pollard Banknote.

"We particularly appreciate their flexible and responsive customer service and the valuable assistance they have offered in building our instant scratch portfolio," Presta explained. "We look forward to working with the Pollard team on new initiatives that will help the Lottery drive its instant scratch sales over the next contract term."

Sylvia Main, Pollard Banknote's director of sales and marketing, said the company values the opportunity to continue its long-standing relationship with the Kansas Lottery.

"We believe that our partnership will be instrumental in the continued growth of sales for the Lottery," she said. "We are committed to developing market-specific strategies that will entertain players and provide benefit to the Lottery's entire portfolio while focusing on maximizing revenue to the state."
