iGaming affiliate RakeTech Group has moved to strengthen its presence in Scandinavian markets by acquiring Danish sportsbook affiliate BetXpert.com and Finland-facing affiliate Turtle Gaming.

A subsidiary of Malta-based operator BetHard Group, RakeTech aims to establish itself as one of the industry’s fastest-growing affiliates through the deals.

This has led to the acquisition of BetXpert, a sports-focused site offering news, betting advice and live scores, available in Danish and English.

Turtle Gaming, meanwhile, is another Malta-based company that operates a range of sports betting and casino media sites, including TurtleBet.com and Nettikansinot.Casino, both targeting the Finnish market.

"BetXpert is a well-known brand who are renowned for quality journalistic content and an objective view of the gambling industry," RakeTech CEO Michael Holmberg explained. "The Turtle Gaming acquisition provides us with multiple high-quality online gambling media websites, that will further enhance our position in Finland."

"The acquisitions of BetXpert and Turtle Gaming has advanced our position as a leading provider of gaming affiliate content in Europe," he explained.

The deals follow the company raising €70m earlier this year, with the new funds to be used to expand its European business. As a result founder Jonas Svensson stepped down as CEO to focus on acquisitions, with BetHard CEO and former PokerStars executive Holmberg taking over his role.

In related news RakeTech has appointed a new chief financial officer to its management team and named former Evolution Gaming CFO Fredrik Svedermann to its board of directors. Anna Nilsson becomes the company's new finance chief from May this year, following a stint at MGTx Digital Ventures, an eSports accelerator division within Swedish media giant Modern Times Group.

"The new additions to our senior management team have proven credentials in business leadership and development, as well as experience in handling mergers and acquisitions," Holmberg said.
