US gaming supplier SHFL entertainment has begun the installation of its video lottery terminals (VLTs) in New York through an agreement with SPIELO International.

SPIELO has been licensed to provide VLTs, as well as content and services to the New York State Division of Lottery since 2003.

The company will lease the VLTs from SHFL as part of a three-year deal signed last November, and provide technical support for those products. The agreement also includes options for two extensions of two years each.

“Our first big rollout of VLTs in such an important market as New York is very exciting,” said Gavin Isaacs, CEO of SHFL. “This is only the beginning of what we hope to be a very promising future for our slot machine segment in the United States.”

The rollout is expected to be completed over the next few weeks, and features three of SHFL's unique slot themes: Eureka Gold Mine, Chomp!, and Cats, Hats, and Bats.

Following completion, SHFL will have installed 112 of its Equinox cabinets in five of the nine New York VLT facilities which include: Hamburg Casino at the Fairgrounds, Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack, Saratoga Casino and Raceway, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway, and Resorts World Casino New York.
