Italian football club ends gambling sponsorship at city’s request

Italian Serie A football club UC Sampdoria has ended its three-year shirt sponsorship agreement with gaming operator Gamenet.it following pressure from the local government in the city of Genoa.

Gamenet took over as the club’s main shirt sponsor at the beginning of the 2011/12 season when Sampdoria were playing in the country’s second tier Serie B.

After the club returned to the top flight the following season, Gamenet signed two one-year renewals to continue its sponsorship.
