German sports betting operator Tipico has signed a partnership to become a platinum partner of FC Bayern Munich, one of Europe’s most successful teams and the current champions of the German Bundesliga.

The four year deal, which expires in 2019, is Tipico’s highest-profile football partnership. This year it has already signed a four-year extension to its partnership with Bayern’s fellow Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, as well as becoming the official betting partner of the Danish national football team

The operator also has partnerships with Bundesliga sides Hamburger SV, SV Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg as well as 2.Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, owned by energy drinks giant Red Bull. It is also the official sponsor of the Austrian Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that Tipico has been a successful operator in European football for “quite some time.”

“For FC Bayern a partnership with such an internationally excellently positioned company is a logical step to take,” he explained.

The club’s director of internationalisation and strategy Jörg Wacker added that Tipcio had developed into an excellent brand, making it fit “perfectly into the circle of our high-profile partners”.
