UK betting and gaming operator Coral, now part of the newly merged Ladbrokes Coral Group, has signed as the title sponsor of World Snooker's Home Nations series.

The sponsorship deal covers the remaining three events of the inaugural 2016-17 series -  the Northern Ireland, Scottish and Welsh Open - with Coral having already served as title sponsor of the opening English Open event, which took place in Manchester in October.

The Coral Home Nations Series features 128 players competing in each event to win the series trophy and individual prizes of £70,000, with the matches televised in the UK on Eurosport and Quest.

"We are thrilled to have Coral on board for all four tournaments and to have their brand associated with this new series," World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn said. "The Coral Home Nations is a fantastic addition to our calendar.

"The Coral English Open was a tremendous event in terms of the standard of snooker and the television viewing figures on Eurosport and Quest, and clearly Coral recognise the vast exposure they will gain by supporting the whole series," he explained.

Coral public relations director Simon Clare added: "The addition of the sponsorship of the Coral Home Nations Series, and the Coral English, Welsh, Northern Ireland and Scottish Opens that make up the series, to our existing sponsorship of the Coral Snooker Shoot Out, is testimony to the popularity and appeal of the sport of snooker amongst all sports fans and to how professional and enthusiastic the World Snooker team are to work with."

The next event in the series is the Northern Ireland Open, which takes place from November 14th to 20th in Belfast.
