London-listed CFD provider Plus500 has extended its sponsorship agreement with Spanish football team Atlético Madrid until the end of the 2020-21 La Liga season.

This will see Plus500's logo continue to appear on the team's official jersey and training kits, as well as branding rights around the its new Wanda Metropolitano stadium. Atlético moved into the new 68,000-capacity ground at the start of the 2017-18 season, with the venue also set to host the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

Plus500 and Atlético have already extended their partnership twice since it was first agreed in January 2015.

"We are honoured to extend our partnership with such an illustrious football club as Atlético Madrid for an additional period and look forward to more exciting and successful seasons together," Plus500 chief executive Asaf Elimelech said.

"Atlético Madrid, consistently demonstrates its strength, professionalism and passion for success, which we feel reflects Plus500's qualities," Elimelech explained. "We are excited to continue this partnership between Atlético Madrid and Plus500, which has strengthened our brand recognition worldwide."

Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín added: "We are delighted to have extended the partnership agreement with Plus500. We believe that this partnership has proved itself to date and is supporting our growth and progress.

“We look forward to continuing our journey with them in our new home at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium."

Shares in Plus500 plc (LSE:PLUS) were trading down marginally by 0.05 per cent at 949.50 pence per share in London earlier Thursday.
