More than a quarter of Dutch athletes believe that match-fixing is taking place around them, with sportspeoples' desire to influence the competition cited as a significantly greater cause of match-fixing than betting, according to new research published this week by the Netherlands ministry of sport and ministry of justice.
The research was conducted by Tilburg University, Vrije University Amsterdam, and forensic researchers from Ernst & Young between February and August 2013.
