The European Amusement and Gaming Federation (EUROMAT) has partnered its Dutch member, the VAN Speelautomaten Brancheorganisatie, to file an official complaint with the European Commission over the different tax rate imposed on iGaming and land-based operators in the Netherlands.
The associations argue that charging online gaming operators at a rate of 20 per cent of gross gaming revenue, compared to the 29 per cent paid by land-based competitors, constitutes illegal state aid.
