The German state of Hesse, which is responsible for the controversial process to award the country’s 20 sports betting licences, has called for a major overhaul of the State Treaty on Gambling.
The state parliament has passed a resolution calling for key aspects of the State Treaty to be scrapped, most notably the 20-licence limit and the provision that restricts the market to sports betting only.
