Canadian provincial lottery operator Loto-Québec will cut the number of video lottery terminals (VLTs) in operation across the province to under 10,000 within two years under a new distribution formula for the machines.
The new formula is designed to avoid the proliferation of VLTs in low-income areas by restricting the number of establishments eligible to host the machines to two per 5,000 citizens, with a maximum of two VLTs per 1,000 inhabitants of any region.
