Blow for Irish bookmakers as Government raises betting duty

In a significant blow to betting operators and bookmakers in Ireland, the government has doubled the betting duty to be paid on all sports betting stakes as part of its 2019 Budget.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe revealed Tuesday that the government would be increasing the rate of betting duty payable, with effect from January 1st 2019.
