Brazilian lawmakers have introduced legislation to block payments to offshore gambling sites in the latest attempt to tackle unlicensed gaming under the country's outdated regulatory framework.
Projecto de Lei do Senado (PLS) 213/2017, sponsored by Senator Crio Nogueira, aims to have the Central Bank of Brazil establish a series of payment-blocking measures.
It would add new language to Brazilian law stating that the Central Bank must prevent transactions to gaming sites hosted on servers located outside of Brazil.
