Peru's Fuerza Popular political party, which holds the highest number of seats in Congress, has introduced a bill to regulate sports betting.
The activity is not officially prohibited in Peru but there is also no legal framework in place for its regulation.
The proposed bill would authorise the country's casinos to offer sports betting, both land-based and online, subject to a tax of 12 per cent of net gaming revenue.
