Virginia took a step towards legalising fantasy sports contests after a bill introduced by Senator Ryan McDougle gained Senate approval following its third reading.
Senate Bill 646 passed a full Senate vote with 28 in favour and ten against. It aims to amend the Code of Virginia by adding registration requirements, conditions on registration and civil penalties for breaches of conditions to operate fantasy sports in the state.
