In a year characterised by significant volatility in sporting results and tough economic conditions, William Hill plc said Friday that net revenues increased by 4% to £997.9 million for the year ended December 29th 2009, just below the ground-breaking billion pound mark, with significant growth in the company's William Hill Online business offsetting a poor performance from its retail segment.
