Former managing director of international for Inspired, Jonathan Mills, has been named director of e-Business for the Isle of Man with immediate effect.

Mills has more than 30 years’ experience within the e-Business sector and is said to already be familiar with the Isle of Man. The roles covers a variety of sectors, including online gambling and information and communication technology.

In his career to date he has worked in a variety of roles, spending more than two years working for Inspired and currently serves as a non-executive director of virtual sports and games business Veros Digital.

He is described as having the required skills, experience and contacts to promote the island’s growing e-Business sector, with a background of both starting successful businesses and helping existing companies grow.

“I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of the calibre and experience of Jonathan Mills to this key role,” Alf Cannan, the Isle of Man Department Member with responsibility for e-Business said.

“The Isle of Man’s economic plan Vision2020 identified e-Business as the sector offering most growth potential and Jonathan will be playing a key role in helping the Isle of Man exploit these opportunities to enable further growth in jobs and in the Island’s reputation as a leading international business centre.”

e-Business is described as an important and rapidly growing part of the island’s economy, representing 25 per cent of national income and employing around 1,600 people. 

“I feel privileged to have been offered this role and will be working closely with Isle of Man businesses and investors to continue to grow existing businesses as well as attract new enterprises to the Island,” Mill said of his new role.
