French operator Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) has brought in experienced executive Patrick Fontana to manage the commercial strategy for its network of 13,200 points of sale across France.

As commercial network director, Fontana has been tasked with overseeing the ongoing transformation and digitisation of the operator's retail estate.

He has a strong commercial background, having held sales and operational roles at a number of leading French businesses.

Fontana joins PMU from property and real estate giant Foncia Groupe, where he has served as group sales director since 2014. Previously he worked as network director for the Society of Songwriters, Composers and Music Publishers (SACEM) for five years, and spent two years as chief operating officer of Swiss recruitment business Adecco Group.

He has also worked as commercial director for telecommunications business Orange in France, managing its retail network and overseeing its multi-channel distribution strategy between 2004 and 2007.
