UK National Lottery operator Camelot has appointed Lotto New Zealand chief executive Wayne Pickup as the CEO designate of its B2B division.
Pickup is to take charge of Camelot Global in the first half of 2018, when he completes his existing commitments with Lotto NZ and steps down from the position he has held since 2012.
He has prior B2B experience, having spent four years at GTECH (now IGT), joining the supplier in March 2008 as general manager of Australasia sales and operations before being promoted to head of government markets.
Prior to that, he spent another five years at Lotto NZ, in a variety of roles including chief information officer, IT projects director, and head of distribution and innovation.
"[I'm] very pleased to welcome Wayne to Camelot Global," said Camelot Global chairman Bogdan Cenanovic. "Wayne has a great reputation in the industry – during his time at Lotto New Zealand, profits have grown by around 50 per cent and digital sales have increased by over 300 per cent.
"Prior to that, Wayne also worked in European, North American and Asia Pacific lottery markets. Wayne's experience will be invaluable to Camelot Global's future ambitions."
Camelot Global is an established lottery supplier, recently securing a private management contract to run the Illinois Lottery and launching a new online platform for Switzerland's Loterie Romande. It also powers the Irish National Lottery's online platform and mobile offering on behalf of Premier Lotteries Ireland.
Pickup joins Camelot Global to replace Nigel Railton, who yesterday was named permanent CEO of Camelot UK Lotteries.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nigel for his fantastic contribution over the last four years," Cenanovic added. "Under his leadership, we have made excellent progress in positioning Camelot Global as a leader in digital lottery technology and services, with the recent contract in Illinois being a key component for the company's future success. I would like to wish Nigel all the very best in his new role."
