ACT introduces legislation criminalising match-fixing

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has introduced legislation that would make match-fixing a criminal offence.

The proposed legislation was introduced Thursday by ACT attorney general Simon Corbell as an amendment to the Criminal Code.

It is designed to address the issues raised in the Cheating at Gambling report published in August 2011 by the New South Wales Law Reform Commission, and the Australian Crime Commission report into Organised Crime and Drugs in Sport in February 2013.
