The head of the gambling research centre at the University of Hohenheim has described Germany's gambling market under the current State Treaty as the "wild west", blaming the situation on the absence of an effective regulatory body to oversee the market.
Professor Tilman Becker, managing director of the gambling research centre at the University of Hohenheim, condemned the lack of controls and called for the establishment of a gambling commission covering all 16 federal states (Länder).
