30th October 2009 7:42 am GMT

Greece's Intralot has agreed a deal with Chile's Lotería de Concepción, one of the two leading lottery operators in the country, for the supply of technological solutions and management of lottery games for an initial term of seven years, during which the two parties will also look to explore further business opportunities in Latin America.

Founded in 1921, Lotería de Concepción is the oldest lottery operator in Chile, offering lottery games such as KINO, IMÁN, Kino5, Raspes, and BOLETO under a license granted by the Chilean Ministry of Finance.

The contract with Intralot is for an initial term of seven years with an option for three annual renewals.

"We are very pleased to enter in this strategic cooperation with Intralot and explore jointly business opportunities in Chile and Latin America," said Mariano Campos, CEO of the Lotería de Concepción.

"We are confident that based on Intralot's experience and technological know-how we will manage to get the Loteria de Concepción into a new era, serving our purpose which is the support and the development of the local community."

A significant percentage of the lottery's revenues are offered to good causes assisting organisations such as the Red Cross, the University of Concepción, welfare institutions and sport organisations.

"Intralot considers Chile as an important and very challenging country to pursue business opportunities in," said Constantinos Antonopoulos, Intralot CEO. "This country became one of our first international milestones, as we have strongly believed in the dynamic of the local gaming market.

"We are confident that through our partnership with the Lotería de Concepción we will manage to boost the Lottery's performance and thus increase its contribution to good causes in the country, and look into opportunities in the wider region of Latin America."

Intralot had previously held a contract to supply lottery services with Chile's other leading lottery operator, Polla Chilena, which has subsequently been taken over by rival GTECH.
