Unibet’s withdrawal from France could have been disastrous for the company. It accounted for around 23 per cent of total revenues when Unibet quit France at the end of Q2 2010 and much more than that previously. The departure coincided with former CFO Henrik Tjärnström stepping into the chief executive’s office. Unibet needed a canny financial mind to ensure that it did not become the first big casualty of Europe’s regulating markets.
