bwin.party’s PartyPoker.com has joined forces with US charity Hometown Heroes to support six towns in New Jersey in need of support following last year’s Hurricane Sandy, the second costliest hurricane in US history.

Hometown Heroes was chosen to lead the Restore the Shore Hurricane Sandy relief campaign, raising funds to support the local community.

Beginning this weekend, bwin.party’s newly licensed NJ.partypoker.com brand will host six online poker tournaments in partnership with Hometown Heroes to support their continuing efforts to Restore the Shore.

The six monthly online Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments will carry a $20 ($10+$10) entry fee, with $10 going into the prize-pool and the other $10 donated directly to Hometown Heroes. Partypoker will then also match each player’s $10 donation and give it to Hometown Heroes.

“Although it’s more than a year after the storm, the need is still so great for people in our community, dealing with the effects of Superstorm Sandy,” said Michael Schwartz, founder and president of Hometown Heroes. “We still have a long road ahead of us and I’m so glad that NJ.partypoker.com has stepped up to help continue those efforts for those who need it most.”

Each tournament will benefit one of six Jersey Shore towns designated by Hometown Heroes as still in the greatest need of support more than year after Hurricane Sandy. The six towns that will benefit from the tournaments are Seaside Heights, Toms River/Ortley Beach, Brick, Union Beach, Ocean Gate and Lavallette.

“We’re excited to partner with Hometown Heroes and support their efforts to Restore the Shore,” said Poker Hall of Famer and Team partypoker captain Mike Sexton. “We might be new to the neighborhood, but we know the need is still great for many living down the shore even more than a year after Superstorm Sandy. We hope our players in New Jersey will log on and play to give.”

The first NJ.partypoker.com tournament will benefit Seaside Heights and take place this weekend on Saturday January 4th.

The schedule for the additional five tournaments is:

February 1st 2014 – Toms River/Ortley Beach
March 1st 2014 – Brick
April 5th 2014 – Union Beach
May 3rd 2014 – Ocean Gate
June 7th 2014 – Lavallette
