Former San Francisco Mayor and iGaming champion Willie Brown has reversed his long-standing position on online gaming to join Sheldon Adelson's Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling, citing the use of "cartoonish characters" by gaming companies for his reversal.

Brown, who served as California Assembly Speaker between 1981 and 1995, and then as Mayor of San Francisco from 1996 to 2004, said that he was previously "on the wrong side of this issue".

He will now serve as national co-chair and California chair of the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling.
