Amaya Gaming Group is confident that its acquisition of PokerStars parent Rational Group will allow the operator to re-enter the US market, and plans to reactivate the operator’s partnership with the Resorts Casino Hotel in New Jersey.

The partnership, which was sealed in July last year, has lain dormant since New Jersey regulator the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) suspended Rational Group’s application for an online gaming licence in the state for two years in December 2013.

At the time, the DGE said it would only lift the suspension if the company was able to demonstrate “significantly changed circumstances.”

Speaking during a conference call to discuss the acquisition, Amaya chief executive David Baazov said that he believed his track record of working with regulators in numerous states would facilitate Rational Group’s entrance to new regulated jurisdictions.
