The Philippines National Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into William Hill’s Manila-based service centre over allegations of illegal gambling activity in the country, forcing the temporary shut-down of the office.

William Hill disclosed information on the investigation late Monday, stating that it had suspended operations as soon as the Bureau served it with notice of its investigation. The company also stressed that it is confident that its activities are compliant with the laws of the Philippines.

The Philippines centre provides customer support and back-office functions, primarily for the operator’s online business.
