The research council of Swedish monopoly operator Svenska Spel has awarded funding to PhD student Johan Svensson for a research project into gambling behaviour among young people.

Working on behalf of the Karolinska Institute medical university and the Swedish Council for Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAN), Svensson's project titled ‘Trends and predictors of real-money gambling among the young’  aims to analyse how youth gambling has evolved in terms of levels of play, changes in the popularity of games, the amount of money spent on the past-time, and the risks involved in youth gambling.
