Runner-up: Paddy Power
888 has made giant leaps over the last few years and the casino that lies at its very core has been the rock upon which that growth has been built.
The revamp of its poker offering hit the headlines, but the casino continues to grow while poker waxes and wanes. 888 is now unrivalled as the only truly pan-European casino.
In its full-year results for 2013, 888 reported a 15 per cent rise in casino revenue to $190.4m (€159.6m). This accounted for almost half the operator’s total revenue. This growth continued throughout 2014, with the operator’s third quarter results revealing a 17 per cent year-on-year increase in casino revenue for the nine-month period.
888’s analytics are the envy of the industry. Its customer focus is becoming legendary. It has boosted its mobile offering to give it access to more customers than ever before. In Italy and, particularly, in Spain, it has grown to a market-leading position. In the latter market it now claims a 20 per cent market share.
A hallmark of the operator’s success has been its remarkably efficient approach to marketing. 888 has invested heavily in its CRM strategy to ensure it can retain and expand its relationship with existing customers without overspending. This in turn allows the operator to invest in acquiring new customers, creating a self-sustainable ecosystem and ensuring a return on investment. As a result, the operator can increase spend based on performance, essentially incentivising itself to continue its growth.
Having sustained its growth by combining innovative marketing strategies with a strong and constantly evolving product offering, 888 is a clear winner.
