The Chinese government is drip-feeding online gambling into the Chinese economy. Suppliers are licking their lips.

On April 20th the Chinese Ministry of Finance announced it would allow the China Sports Lottery to offer VLT-style games on mobile phones in the Jiangsu province on a pilot basis, tentatively scheduled for two years.

The announcement was the first concrete evidence that VLT games are coming to China in an official capacity. What’s more, the China Welfare Lottery (one of China’s two official lotteries) missed out this time round, but observers are expecting the Welfare Lottery to be handed a similar opportunity in another province.

The news has got Hong Kong-listed suppliers such as AGTech and China LotSynergy salivating, while overseas suppliers such as GTECH and Scientific Games will also be bidding to supply the lotteries with their technology.
