US casino and racetrack operator Penn National Gaming said that it is making “great” progress in advancing its efforts in the digital gaming space, with social gaming products set for launch at four US properties and the company strengthening its iGaming team to take advantage of opportunities in the social fantasy sports sector as well as commercial online gaming opportunities in the future.

In an earnings call following the release of the company’s second quarter results late last week, Penn National senior vice president and managing director of iGaming Chris Sheffield said that the target for social games at this point was to improve retention and acquisition of customers for land-based business.
