Stockholm-listed gaming operator Unibet will launch of a new poker client next week powered by its partner Relax Gaming, with a major promotion set to begin in December to publicise the new offering.

The Unibet Poker 2.0 client will launch across desktop, tablet and mobile devices on December 1st, and has been built to offer the best possible player experience, according to the company.

It comes with a number of new features such as a hand replayer, fully-integrated missions to ramp up customer engagement and a new loyalty scheme, alongside improved graphics and multi-tabling options. The new release also improves back-end functionality and stability.

"Unibet Poker 2.0 was built from the ground up and designed to provide us with a foundation upon which we can seamlessly add in-game features to continuously provide the best experience possible for all of our players," said Andrew West, Unibet's head of poker.

"We're looking forward to collecting feedback on the new software and hope that our players will see the potential for 2017 and beyond."

Unibet has offered poker on a stand-alone network since 2013, using a product designed specifically for the operator by Relax Gaming. This has helped the company grow poker revenue in a declining market, with Q3 poker revenue up 65 per cent year-on-year.

"Expectations are high for the impact of the new client, and we have made, and will continue to make, significant investment to grow our player base and the poker category," the operator explained. "Unibet Poker 2.0 is just one piece of the puzzle."

Players will be automatically prompted to upgrade their software when the new client goes live on December 1st.

The release will coincide with what Unibet describes as its "biggest ever" poker promotion, Around the World. It offers a top prize of a business class 28-day trip for two to visit the Seven Wonders of the World, valued at over €35,000, with 33 other players also winning travel experiences.

A further 1,000 players will win a number of other prizes such as tournament and cash game tickets, laptops and packages for the Unibet Open poker event. Cash game players will be randomly awarded gold, silver and bronze raffle tickets between December 1st and 31st, with each ticket offering a corresponding prize.

In total prizes worth more than €250,000 will be awarded, with all major winners to be announced on the operator's channel on January 7th, 2017.

Shares in Unibet plc (Co.Data) (STO:UNIB) were trading up 1.02 per cent at SEK79.45 per share in Stockholm early Thursday.
