The latest survey from the UK Gambling Commission shows that in 2016, 48 per cent of people over the age of 16 participated in gambling, predominantly on the National Lottery.

The report presents annual estimates of gambling in Great Britain based on past-four-week participation rates.

It shows that the overall gambling participation rate for 2016 was 48.4 per cent, an increase on 2015's rate of 44.8 per cent but lower than the 55.3 per cent and 53.4 per cent recorded in 2013 and 2014.
