Toronto-listed supplier NYX Gaming Group has said that it processed more than 35.6m sports bets through its OpenBet platform during a record-breaking Cheltenham Festival last week.

In total the OpenBet platform handled 227.2m account transactions at the Cheltenham horse racing festival which ended Friday March 17th.

This made the 2017 Festival OpenBet’s most successful ever, with the 35.6m sports bets marking a 13 per cent increase versus 2016.

More than three-quarter’s (76 per cent) of all bets placed through the platform were via mobile devices, with the number of sports bets per minute placed through OpenBet peaking at 37,000, an increase of 36 per cent year-on-year.

Last year the OpenBet platform reached a peak of 62,000 bets per minute during the Grand National, and 19,600 bets per second with during the Melbourne Cup, the highest ever peak via a single operator.

Shares in NYX Gaming Group Ltd (Co. Data) (CVE:NYX) closed in Toronto Monday up 4.3 per cent at CAD$1.21 per share.
