Evolution Gaming is to build a live casino studio in Canada, its first outside Europe, as part of plans to expand its client base in the country.

The new studio will be built in the Metro Vancouver area of British Columbia and follows an agreement to provide live dealer games and related services to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

The company has signed a five-year supply deal with the provincial lottery operator, with games to be streamed via BCLC's PlayNow.com iGaming site.

"We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Evolution, to bring the thrill of live, interactive casino gaming to our online players," BCLC vice president of iGaming Monica Bohm said.

"New and innovative products like live casino will help BCLC continue to deliver the very best in gambling entertainment to our players while benefiting communities across British Columbia."

Evolution chief executive Martin Carlesund described the deal as "a huge breakthrough" for his company.

"This latest expansion consolidates Evolution's position as global leader in the B2B live casino market," he said. "This delivery further highlights our ability to provide solutions that meet the most stringent requirements of regulated markets."

The 16,000 square foot venue is expected to be completed and operational before the end of the year, initially featuring ten tables for blackjack, baccarat and roulette.

The studio will be used to further develop Evolution's customer base in Canada with new provincial lottery clients, offering shared and dedicated tables. The supplier believes that over time the studio can create more than 170 new jobs in the Vancouver area, with operational staff to be recruited locally.
