Leading US casino operator MGM Resorts International has launched its GVC-powered playMGM online poker and casino sites in New Jersey.

The launch of the real-money online poker and casino sites mark the first time the MGM brand has been used in the iGaming sector.

The playMGMcasino.com site offers more than 200 slots alongside table games such as blackjack, roulette, craps and video poker, while players will be able to access daily and weekly tournaments, sit'n gos and cash games via playMGMpoker.

The launch follows a partnership between MGM and GVC announced in May this year. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which MGM acquired outright in July 2016, has worked with bwin.party/GVC since the New Jersey iGaming market opened in 2013.

"We are thrilled to be entering the online gaming landscape in New Jersey with the expansion of our playMGM.com platform to include both casino and poker games," MGM Resorts chief operating officer Corey Sanders said.

"The ability to effectively bring Las Vegas to New Jersey via an online experience is an exciting undertaking, especially as we continue to develop our presence on the East Coast with the recent acquisition of Borgata, the opening of MGM National Harbor and the pending 2018 opening of MGM Springfield in Massachusetts."

Shares in GVC Holdings plc (Co.Data) (LSE:GVC) were trading up 0.37 per cent at 786.00 pence per share in London earlier Friday.
