Kenyan sports betting operator SportPesa has signed a partnership agreement with Italian gaming solutions provider Microgame ahead of its launch in Italy.

Microgame will power SportPesa's Italian sportbook and casino products, as well as providing poker, virtual games and bingo through the platform.

This offering will be enhanced by a range of proprietary products developed in-house by SportPesa, with Microgame's technical staff working alongside the operator's development team to integrate these games.

"We are extremely proud to have been chosen as the outsourcing partner by a successful international group such as SportPesa for its launch in Italy," Microgame chief executive Marco Castaldo said. "We are confident about the great potential of this project and will deploy all the resources necessary to ensure its success."

SportPesa country manager Luca Magnano added: "We're delighted to be teaming up with Microgame to create a best-in-class gaming experience for the Italian market.

"We have quickly developed a strong understanding and working relationship with our new partners and we believe that together we will soon be recognised as industry leaders in Italy."

SportPesa's move into Italy has been facilitated by the company's acquisition of a 75 per cent stake in RCS Gaming, the online gambling subsidiary of Milan-listed media giant RCS MediaGroup.

RCS' main iGaming brand, named after the sporting tabloid Gazzetta dello Sport, will be rebranded as
