London-listed 888 Holdings has launched 888poker in Italy, ahead of the introduction of European cross-border liquidity pooling.

The new site features a range of poker variants, including two formats popular among recreational players, SNAP and BLAST. SNAP Poker is a high-speed, fast-fold game, while Poker BLAST is an eight-minute, four-player game with a €300,000 prize pool.

The poker launch completes 888's Italian offering, which already includes casino and sports betting.

"The Italian market fits with our strategy to expand 888’s presence in regulated markets and strengthens our position for the forthcoming pooling of players across selected European markets," 888 chief operating officer Itai Pazner explained.

"Following the success of our sports betting and casino products in the market, it was a natural step to offer our poker brand to our Italian customers so they can enjoy all three products, seamlessly and in one place."

Shares in 888 Holdings plc (LSE:888) were trading up 0.79 per cent at 282.20 pence per share in London early Thursday morning.
